An Unexpected Journey: Day 2 at Highclere Castle and Bampton Village | Travel

If you're a Downton Abbey fanatic, like myself, or if you've watched one or two episodes of this sensational series, listen closely. (Oh, and if you're reading this and asking yourself, "Downton Abbey? Is that, like, a monastery?"please listen even more closely. I will be having a talk with you later). Back on topic, today I visited the real Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle, where the tv series has been filmed for the past 3 seasons. This incredible castle has become known worldwide because of it's role in Downton Abbey, but few know it's unique history. The castle has entertained royalty for many years and has been used as a background for multiple films and television series. Let me tell you, if you ever visit England, this is a must see. It's a bit out of the way, but trust me, it's so worth it.
Our second stop was the charming countryside village of Bampton. This quaint little town looks like something out of a Jane Austen or Charles Dickens' novel, consisting of old cottages, stone walkways and beautiful scenery.
It was nice to get a feel for the countryside of England, but tomorrow we will be back in the city for more sightseeing. Can't wait to do some more exploring!
